Equatorial Geodesic Motion of Test Particles in the Kerr and First Tomimatsu-Sato Metrics

abstract

Four crucial effects of General Relativity in the Kerr and first Tomimatsu–Sato metrics are calculated by a new method. A possible time-delay test of General Relativity in the gravitational field of a rotating mass is considered.

New Cosmology

abstract

The metric of a cosmology implied by the non-symmetric unified field theory is studied in various coordinate systems. It is shown that a form of it exists leading to a Hubble law of expansion in a first approximation.

Geometry at Infinity

abstract

The geometry of the space-time at coordinate infinity is considered. It is shown that time becomes absolute in the limit and that the spatial section of the manifold there is an euclidean two sphere.

Octonionic Interpretation of the Multiquark States in the Dual String Picture

abstract

Assuming the octonionic quark fields the multiquark string-like states — recently advocated in the dual unitarisation programme — are obtained. An explanation of the \(n\)-jet structure in hadron production processes follows naturally from the underlying algebra of octonions. The difference between the schemes of Low–Nussinov and Veneziano can be understood as the difference between standard QCD which allows colour multiplets of higher dimensionality and the octonion algebra where only triplet and antitriplet states are possible.

Recent Results in Inclusive Charged-Current Neutrino-Nuclear Scattering

abstract

Recent experiments on high energy neutrinos and antineutrinos from SPS and FNAL accelerators are discussed and compared with theoretical predictions.

Gamma–Gamma Angular Correlations in \(^{151}\)Gd

abstract

The gamma–gamma angular correlations in the decay of \(^{151}\)Tb \(\to \) \(^{151}\)Gd were studied for 27 cascades. The results allow to determine more accurately spins of 108(5/2), 395(3/2), 575(1/2), 587(3/2), 812(3/2), 839(1/2), 1087(3/2), and 1192(1/2) keV excited states in \(^{151}\)Gd; the ratios of reduction matrix elements for 10 mixed electromagnetic transitions were also determined.

Alpha Decay Peculiarities in the Near-Lead Region

abstract

Alpha-particle decay of near-lead isotopes were analysed in terms of the Geiger–Nuttal formula, as well as using reduced width formalism. On this grounds a correlation between deviations from alpha decay systematics, and shape staggering effects were suggested: the sudden changes of \(\gamma ^2\) values for Hg, Pt and Au, for neutron number intervals 105–107, 108–110 and 102–104, respectively, are in coincidence with deformation changes confirmed by other experiments.

Angular Momentum Effects in Highly Excited Nuclei

abstract

Rotational properties of nearly spherical nuclei are discussed in terms of the statistical model including pairing interaction. The possibility of appearance of back-bending in the moment of inertia within the shell model approach is shown. The yrast states are calculated and discussed.
